Balázs Hornyák

BIO

Balázs Hornyák was born in Kaposvár where he started to play the flute at the age of 12. At the age fourteen he was accepted into Zoltán Kodály Secondary Music School in Kecskemét. He obtained his first diploma from the Conservatory of Szeged University with distinction. Parallel with his music studies he studied English language and literature and journalism. In 2003, Balázs started his career as a professional flute player in the Symphony Orchestra of Szeged National Theatre then he toured with them throughout many European countries. In 2008, he returned to his native town where he taught those with musical talents and helped them start a musical career. In 2014, he graduated with honours from Pécs University, Faculty of Music where he obtained his Master’s Degree in flute performance. He has been working with leading Hungarian orchestras, involved in musical performances at various theatres and performs with different chamber music formations regularly. He is the member of European Council of High Ability and researcher of musical talent and arts education. In 2015, he was a presenter at WCGTC world conference in Denmark about musical talent.  In 2016, he was the winner of poster presentation competition at the 15th International ECHA conference in Vienna. In the same year he became a “European Music Council Fellow” and was awarded at the 15th Vincenzo Vitti Music Competition in Italy.  Now, he works as a freelance musician, teacher and talent expert in the Hungarian capital.
